Gary Geisler is one of the most experienced trial attorneys in Central Illinois. He has been engaged in a general trial practice since 1977 and has participated in over 130 jury trials.
Mr. Geisler has been selected as one of the top 100 trial lawyers in Illinois outside of Chicago by Chicago Lawyers Magazine. He was selected as one of the twelve trial lawyers for the original Board of Advocates by the Illinois Trial Lawyers Association. He continues to be recognized by the American Trial Lawyers Association as one of the Top 100 Trial Lawyers in the State of Illinois.
Mr. Geisler has been certified as a Civil Trial Advocate by the National Board of Trial Advocates continuously since 1987. For the past 27 years, he has been the only lawyer in Macon County who is certified by the NBTA. The certification involves not only testing but also opposing counsel and judges who have had heard cases involving the candidate are interviewed about the candidate. Gary has spoken at legal seminars and had his writing published in legal journals on such topics as trial advocacy and evidence.
While Gary also practices marital law and criminal law, he has been recognized for his civil trial work. He has achieved a number of successful verdicts and settlements in cases involving serious injuries and deaths.
His verdicts and judgments include recoveries of $8,300,000, $7,900,000, $2,500,000, $1,500,000, $954,000 , $895,000 and several more. His successful settlements include $4,100,000, $1,300,000 and several more.
He has handled numerous motor vehicle collision cases, product liability cases, construction and industrial accident cases, house explosion cases, nursing home and medical cases and premises liability cases.
Gary recently obtained a judgment of $2,500,000 in a wrongful death case which was the first recognized wrongful death recovery for the surviving partner of a civil union in Illinois.
He was also able to win a jury verdict in a personal injury case where his client who had suffered a devastating back injury on a defective manlift at a factory but passed away prior to the trial and was not able to testify about the occurrence.
In other cases, Gary has been a consultant and served as co-counsel for some highly recognized lawyers who have had cases in central Illinois. He is highly regarded by his fellow lawyers who often call upon him for advice and assistance in handling their cases.
Criminal Defense Attorney
Gary began his practice focusing in criminal defense work with his father, Asher O. Geisler. He continues to take difficult criminal defense cases which utilize his skills and abilities.
He has defended nine murder cases with only one case resulting in a murder conviction.
Gary has defended a number of manslaughter and reckless homicide cases in central Illinois. He has used his dual experience in civil and criminal law to apply complicated factual inquiries into cases involving charges arising out of motor vehicle accidents.
Gary has defended a number of other difficult and sometimes controversial cases involving child pornography, child sexual abuse, aggravated battery, arson, armed robbery and other offenses.
